Barry Lewis, sportswriter for the Tulsa World, shared this story about Len Morton.

“In the early ’70s there was an Oilers game that was one out away from going into extra innings and the Oilers let their relief pitcher, Tim Plodinec, bat for himself with no one on base…He never even had had a hit as an Oiler. Despite the long odds, Len kept on saying he was going to get a hit and could even hit a homer, and maybe if he said it enough, he could talk him into a home run. Incredibly, Plodinec then homered to win the game. That was Plodinec’s only hit for the Oilers!” ~ Barry Lewis

Long time Tulsa sports fans will recognize this picture of Oiler Park, 15th and Yale Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
